To love You more dearly

Prayer Life

Prayer and liturgy is the foundation of our school community, helping us to deepen our relationship with God and with one another. We believe that through prayer, we open our hearts to God’s love and guidance, which enriches all aspects of school life.

Daily Prayer Practices

  • Morning Prayer: Each day begins with a whole-school prayer, setting a prayerful tone for the day ahead.

  • Angelus: At midday, we pause to pray the Angelus, connecting us with the wider Catholic community.

  • End-of-Day Prayer: We conclude each day by giving thanks and reflecting on our experiences.

  • Weekly whole school Gospel assembly to celebrate and proclaim the Word of God.

Liturgical Prayer

  • School Masses: We celebrate Mass as a school community regularly, with different classes taking turns to prepare the liturgy.

  • Stations of the Cross: During Lent, we pray the Stations of the Cross, helping students connect with Christ’s passion.

Family and Community Prayer

  • Family Prayer Resources: We provide resources to help families pray together at home, extending the school’s prayer life into family life.

  • Parish Connections: We participate in parish prayer events and encourage families to be active in their parish communities.

Seasonal Prayer

  • Advent and Lent: Special prayer services and activities during these liturgical seasons help students prepare for Christmas and Easter.

  • May Procession: We honour Mary with a special procession and prayers during the month of May.

  • Celebrating the Rosary during the months of October and May

Through these varied prayer experiences, we aim to help our students develop a rich and meaningful prayer life that will sustain them throughout their lives, in line with our mission of “Journeying together with Jesus Christ, we learn to love and love to learn.”

At Ss John Fisher and Thomas More we are committed to providing a rich Catholic education that prepares our pupils to live out their faith with confidence and joy. Through our mission of “Journeying together with Jesus Christ, we learn to love and love to learn,” we aim to develop well-rounded individuals who are grounded in their faith and ready to make a positive impact in the world.
