Purpose of Study

At SS John Fisher and Thomas More Catholic Primary School we believe that writing is a key skill for life, both inside and out of education, and that is why it features across all the subjects taught in our school. Our aim is to provide children with key transferrable writing skills to build on year on year that can be used throughout each phase of their education and prepare them for secondary school. Furthermore, we put reading at the heart of the curriculum. We intend to provide rich, meaningful discussions around texts, where all children feel confident and able to contribute by using their reading skills to access all areas of learning. We also intend to foster a love of reading both at school and at home. Our reading curriculum has been designed using very high impact strategies based on extensive evidence (EEF 2022).
