Ss John fisher & Thomas More Catholic Primary School is part of The Wythenshawe Catholic Academy Trust (WCAT). The executive board for the trust delegates most of its responsibilities to the Local Governing Body of the school.

Pen Portraits of the IMB
Hello I’m Matthew Fox, Foundation Director of the Wythenshawe Catholic Trust, and Chair of IMB here at St John’s & St Thomas Moore. I have been a Foundation Govenor for over 20 years. I have 3 “Children”, aged 22, 19 & 15. They all went to Primary school here in Wythenshawe where we have lived for 25 years. Our Youngest being in her last year at St Pauls. I work for a National IT & Telecoms company selling Telecoms, Networks and Internet services to other telecoms companies.
Mrs Maureen Sweeney – Maureen has been a governor for approximately 8 years. As well as being a governor with Ss John Fisher & Thomas More, she is also Chair of the Interim Management Board at St Paul’s Catholic High School which is part of the Wythenshawe Catholic Academy Trust.
Mrs Colette Garner – Colette has over 30 years’ experience in education and was headteacher of an outstanding primary school from 2001 – 2015. She currently work for the Diocese of Shrewsbury as Assistant Director of Education. She has two grown up children and six grandchildren and know how important it is for families that their children are happy, safe and successful at school.
Mrs Mary Arnold – Mary was an English teacher for over 25 years, working in high schools as a senior leader for 20 of those years. She then became an adviser for Manchester working mostly with primary schools. When the advisers’ post were lost due to cutbacks Mary began working as an independent consultant. She is a trained Ofsted inspector although she no longer take part in inspections. Mary has been a governor for seven years. She lives in St John’s parish in Chorlton and contributes to parish life as much as she can.
Mrs Debbie Penny – Debbie is a former headteacher of two Catholic Primary Schools and have previously served as chair of governors at a school in special measures. Having worked for over 25 years in Catholic Primary schools, she is looking forward to working as a member of the IMB to support the leadership of the school in successfully addressing the current issues facing the school.
Mrs Gabrielle Higham – Gabrielle is presently the CFO for a nationwide contract catering company specialising in the care, welfare and education market and has considerable experience in SME and private equity backed companies where she steers the strategic direction of the company along with her fellow shareholders. She is an honours graduate from Liverpool Hope University and like many accountants started her career in one of the Big Five accounting firms, but soon realised there were more exciting things to life so joined the world of business. Gabrielle lives locally and is on the Chair of Governors for St Ambrose Primary School, Chorlton. She has two sons currently away at University and her hobbies include yoga, ski-ing and music.
